1. What should I do If I cannot view QAM unencrypted channels or even scan them?
 

1. If you can can scan the QAM or ATSC channels but cannot view correctly the higher resolution channels HDTV.

A. This happens when using onboard video card, the amount of memory on the video card is not enough or the video card does not have hardware accelleration. The graphics card (Must support Microsoft DirectX 9.0 or above, high-end Graphics Card with DX-VA feature recommended for HDTV programs and Video adapter with atleast 128MB DDR video memory , AGP8x interface or PCI express  and driver support for MPEG-2  acceleration

 

2.  If you cannot scan QAM channels with TotalMedia.

A. Sometimes it is a little confusing on which connection for the coaxal cable to use since on the manual and picture one says Digital Antenna and the other UHF/VHF antenna. http://www.kworldcomputer.com/product/digital/atsc115/images/c1.jpg  . The Digital antenna as it is stated is for ATSC HD Over the Air antenna and not digital cable.

b. The middle coaxal connector UHF/VHF antenna as it is stated is for analog cable and digital cable QAM.

 

3. During the TotalMedia setup, when one comes to Select Video Device. There are two choices, 713x BDA Analog Capture and 713x BDA ATSC Tuner .

a. 713x BDA Analog Capture = Choose this when you want to scan for basic analog cable.

b. 713x BDA ATSC Tuner = Choose this when you wan to scan for ATSC over the air HDTV or digital cable QAM. When you click next make sure you choose Cable for QAM channel scan or Antenna for ATSC over the air channel scan.


Media Center Edition does not support QAM signal. You need to use TotalMedia
